Species	Species names follow the taxonomy of  A Guide to the Identification of Seahorses, by S.A. Lourie, S.J. Foster, E.W.T. Cooper, and A.C.J. Vincent, released in 2004. The entire guide is available on the Internet for browsing and for downloading at www.projectseahorse.org/Seahorses/IDguide.html
Authority	The authority who first presented the original species description.
Included in CITES ID Guide	All species that were not included in A Guide to the Identification of Seahorses (www.projectseahorse.org/Seahorses/IDguide.html) are indicated in this column.
Presence Suspected or Confirmed?	A species labelled 'confirmed' has been found in the country. A species labelled 'suspected' has not been verified to occur within the country.
IUCN Global Assessment	If the species has been assessed for extinction risk through the World Conservation Union (IUCN) Red List process, there will be a link to the assessment in this column. To learn more about the IUCN Red List Assessment Categories and Criteria, please visit www.iucn.org/themes/ssc/redlists/RLcats2001booklet.html.
IUCN Assessment Year	The year that the last IUCN Red List Assessment was completed.
